CMYK Screen Printing

I combines 3 images in photoshop and screen printing them. My condition for CMYK is I never get exactly the same color in each print. First, I was really upset but later on I love all this randomness color! It make an intriguing feeling.

My first Screen Printing

My first screen printing project took me 10 hours in a day! Even it was painful, standing there for all day, lined each colors up and overlay everything exactly right the same spot, mixed all the colors, cleaned screen. There was too many problem happened. However, later on it gave me an incredible outcome. I made hot and cold color tone. I used only 3 colors in each print by overlap the layers. The outcome look like I've got 5 colors. It's amazing that I got more colors out of only 3. That's really make me feel soothe.

Theater Poster l No Man's Land

Luba Lukova is an visiting artist for GD MFA students. We designed the poster for promote the play name "No Man's Land" by Harold Pinter. This play is a mysterious conversation between two men. They talk about their life by mixing between reality and imagination together.

Textuality l 365 Starry Nights

My Textuality Assignment, to Create a poster using some of the data about the book on amazon. Using visual and typography to reflect and tell the story about this book. Experiment with type. Use a grid and typography in a beautifully way.

365 Starry Nights, the book I chose. I used the format of 365 days in calender and then applied them as a grid for the word review this book from amazon. I broke the words out by a letters and follow the structure of calender. I created two contrast grid between rigid structure and the random character of sky.

Here is another design for this book. I used the radial form of constellation as a grid and inform the most words in this book "concordance". Taking related words and separating them by different fonts, this pattern also refers to the stars map as well.

Our second project for GD MFA is to created artwork for Exhibition in reprposes theme. Students will submit their projects to Kenneth FitzGerald for this exhibition. This project is very wide. It could be either reusing ideas, methodologies, theories, principles, texts) as well as material repurposing (physical stuff).

I came up with the idea of repupose of plastic bags. I cut up them by hand into vines in graphic form then layered them together. This piece can act as a literal shield to the sun as window blinds while crating playful shadows that mimic actual shadows from nature, like those from a tree.

By cutting up many plastic bags, I discovered the random beauty of different types of plastic, such as transparent, opaque and moving. I reused plastic bags in order to make people think and ultimately find ways themselves to reuse materials.

Swatch

Our first design assignment in GD MFA class is "Swatches". We are all using this project as a tool to introduce and express ourselves in term of design background and interest in visual form. I represent graphic forms in shapes, lines, typography, pattern and icon express my own background and interest in two and three-dimensional perspective. This swatch was one of my few experiment project that I haven't had much chance to work on. It was fun and very interesting for me, a person who normally work in two dimensional form in illustrator. I'm surprisingly starting get out of a box now.

New Chapter!

I realize that it has been forever I haven't done anything for my blog. So I am starting to update this blog as it is a new chapter of my life. I'm here in Baltimore, United State. I'm working on my Masters of Graphic Design at Maryland Institute College of Art. I'm here for experience.

Worked for Cadson Demak, a graphic design company based in Bangkok, for several years has taught me a lot about the entire process of designing and to creating unique designs that can be understood on a global level, transcending the boundaries of language.

However, I want to experience and learn something new. After traveling for a few months over the last summer, I realized how much more there is in the rest of the world. While work experience and education are very different, they're also very similar in Thailand due to the culture. I believe that MICA would give me a chance to learn more about my interest in graphic design from a well-known art school as well as an opportunity to learn more about the rest of the world.
